Professional gym in the garden

My Eco Space has recently completed a bespoke gym building for a client who is a personal trainer. Simon, the client, has offered personal training sessions in rooms of his house for several years, but following a move of house, he decided that a custom built solution in the garden was the answer.

Simon approached My Eco Space with detailed ideas for the layout of the building. Working together, Simon and the My Eco Space team let the initial ideas evolve into a high specification building. It was originally thought that a flat roof design would work, but when it became clear that some equipment would require additional ceiling height a pitched roof design was decided upon.

The pitched roof is not only practical but also looks great. It creates a light and airy interior and the composite tiles used on the roof offer an aesthetic appeal.

Because of the weight of the equipment used in the gym, and the fact that some equipment would be suspended from the ceiling. Extra engineering went into the core framework which is based on a Structural Insulated Panels (SIP’s) system. For instance, the roof structure includes a double truss and beams to support the suspended equipment.

The L-shaped building comprises of the main training room 8 meters by 4 meters. The wing, which incorporates a consultation area, changing room and shower room is 6 meters by 2 meters.

The light and airy interior have a plastered and decorated finish. The temperature can be easily controlled thanks to the climate control system. The changing rooms have a low energy heating system.

Externally the main elevations have been clad in A grade Western Red Cedar, the other elevations in a charcoal grey UPVC cladding. This is becoming a popular option to mix cladding finishes, particularly on the elevations which are not going to be on view.

As you can see, Simon and the My Eco Space team have worked together to create a high-spec gym building.
