Gym in hotel garden

Andrew Best of STuDS has sent through details of a gym building they have recently created in the grounds of Bath Lodge Castle Hotel.

Andrew and his team are specialist timber frame designers and were asked to create a contemporary design to contrast with the historic castle.

The mono pitched building was orientated so the glazing faces south to harness the natural light and warmth from the sun – this is a good tip for anyone looking to build a garden room whether it be a gym like this or a garden office.

The building has been cladded in Western Red Cedar which was sourced from Silva Timber. The cedar was chosen to help the building blend into its woodland surroundings and because of its clean contemporary look.

The cladding has been fixed vertically and the detailing around the eaves / wall intersection is very sharp. Recessed downlights have been fitted into the roof overhang on the front elevation which will cast a lovely light effect at night.
