We have featured several garden rooms with storage sheds on this site over the last few months, but we think this garden office with bike shed by Green Studios is perhaps the most striking design we’ve seen.

Ben a photographer commissioned the Green Studios team to design and build a office from where he could run his photographic business with ample storage for all of his kit. The brief also asked for the room to be adaptable so once Ben retired he could use the main space as a family room overlooking the garden.
This contemporary garden office is set in lovingly landscaped gardens. To be able to build under Permitted Development rules without compromising on ceiling height, the Green Studios team excavated the ground where the building sits. This excavation allowed for a sunken terrace to be created. Green Studios used the best quality slip resistant decking for this terrace, which creates a great outdoor living space.
Ben asked if a secret storage area could be created so he could house his bike. Green studios created a set of hidden doors clad in the same cedar as the rest of the exterior. Its design details like this that make this building. The rain screen cedar cladding has a wider spacing than is normal which is another nice design detail, as is the ‘invisible’ roof edge.
Internally the garden office is finished in birch ply rather than the traditional plastered and painted interior. This is a finish often chosen by more creative garden office owners. We think it looks fantastic and agree with Green Studios who say “it reinforces the romantic idea of being in a ‘log cabin in the woods’.”
The office has been hard wired with internet access so Ben can connect with anywhere in the world from the bottom of his garden. He will be nice and warm on the coldest days of the year thanks to the underfloor heating which features 24/7 touchscreen controls.
