Crusoe Garden Rooms – How it all began…

Emma from Crusoe Garden Rooms offers some background to their garden room story.

As the 100th build approaches for Crusoe Garden Rooms it is making me think back to how it all started. In fact it all began with a set of second hand sliding doors! The set of white ones from a building project that my husband, Trev, could not bear to take to the tip can be seen below in one of our first pictures.

After spending all his working life using wood it was a natural progression for Trev to fill some dead space in our garden with a beautiful building in which to site his beloved drum kit! And so ‘Crusoe Garden Rooms’ was born.

The picture below shows our beautiful, now extended, garden room which serves as the original music room but also as our office, oh and log store. Note the new grey doors! We use our own garden room as our showroom so you can come and see a real one in action and see how beautiful the materials we use are.

To date we have completed almost one hundred builds throughout the United Kingdom from Aberdeen to Brighton and everywhere in between!

Crusoe Garden Rooms is made up of Trev, myself (Emma, Trev’s wife), Jack and Jude, Trev’s nephews. So it really is a family affair! You can see for yourself how happy this makes our clients through our testimonials which come complete with a picture of each build.

Trev has over 30 years experience working on various building projects as diverse as a chapel and windmill restoration to bespoke furniture, bespoke kitchens and contemporary building projects.

He is not only a craftsman when it comes to wood and building, he also has a brilliant eye for proportion, placing and design as you can see from our gallery. So if you feel you need guidance in these areas then he is your man. This usually happens either through emailing pictures of your garden or though a site visit – whatever suits you. Your first point of contact whether by phone or email will be either myself or Trev and from the first site visit to the completion of your project, Trev will be involved hands on in the build, making sure that your project runs smoothly and to schedule.

Trev’s nephew, Jack, trained as a plasterer before joining the team and has honed his skills on almost one hundred builds now – a harder worker and a better plasterer you will not find!

After completing his degree at Liverpool University, Jude, Trev’s other nephew, is now taking over from Trev as our rubber roof expert.

We do not outsource the building of our garden rooms and each room is hand crafted on site by our team, not prefabricated. You can either chose one of our existing designs or you can chose to create your very own bespoke garden room. As all of our rooms are hand crafted on site and not prefabricated it allows the client to make changes as the build progresses.

Care will always be taken to respect you, your property and that of your neighbours. We pride ourselves on our promptness, tidiness and intelligence whilst completing your project.
