When your friends and family see and go in your garden room they’re going to want one, as was the case with this recent Alternative Space Eco Den build as Paul from Alternative Space explains:
Our most recent client, in South West London, fell in love with her sister’s Eco Den (a unit which we installed over 3 years ago). As a freelance writer working from home, she was desperate for a separate, quiet, work space in which to write without being disturbed. She also had an unusual problem with her garden, which was separated from her home by a public footpath, making the garden isolated and not particularly useful when entertaining guests. She realised that a purpose designed Eco Den was just what she needed.
She asked us to design a unit which would fit into her long, narrow garden, without dominating the space, but which had an additional, incorporated storage area for gardening equipment, furniture and tools.
To this end we designed a deeper than usual unit, with a concealed storage room at the rear. This ensured that unit did not take up too much garden width and give a clean façade and unimposing look when viewed from the front.
As well as creating a tranquil creative space, the garden now has a new focal point which can be used when entertaining guests, making this previously remote garden a truly integral part of the home.
Truly an Alternative Space for Work and Play!
