Green Studios were approached by their clients to create a garden annexe which could be both an every day extension to their home and self contained guest accommodation. They wanted to create a utility room with some storage space and a living room / guest room with en-suite facilities.
Sited within 10 meters of the main house, the garden annexe has been designed to compliment the main house. A pitched roof design was chosen to incorporate the storage space the customers specified. The pitched roof has been beautifully tiled with traditional clay tiles. The traditional look is completed with weatherboard cladding.
The annexe sits on a footprint of 5 meters x 4 meters / 20 square meters. The main room is flooded with natural light thanks to the 4 meter wide set of sliding doors on the front elevation and the 2.4 meter set on the side elevation. This clever positioning of the doors creates a glazed corner of the building.
The main living room has a vaulted ceiling extending up to 4 meters. There is a roof window in the ceiling which is another nice touch.
While the exterior of the annexe has a traditional feel, internally is much more contemporary. The building has a fully plastered interior and has been decorated throughout. Underfloor heating has been installed for year round comfort.
A fully fitted utility room has been created with storage cleverly incorporated into the roof above. A W.C has been incorporated to make the annexe self contained from the main house.
