5 Minutes With The Home Office Company

Today we talk with The Home Office Company in the latest in our 5 minutes with… interviews:

What makes your company / garden rooms unique?

Unlike the majority of manufacturers within the garden room market, our rooms are not clad in wood and do not resemble a shed!
Our garden rooms are created from insulated steel panels coated in Plastisol which gives them maintenance free lifespans of 30 years. These unique panels are only 40mm thick which not only maximises internal floor space but our Phenolic foam insulation can keep our garden rooms as warm as many other buildings with walls more than 3 times as thick!

What feature of your garden rooms are you most proud of?

Our traditional pitched roof has been unique in the market for many years and is loved by our customers. Coupled with the opening porthole windows, these have been favourably commented upon so many times by customers that they will always remain key to the appeal of our garden rooms.

When designing your garden rooms, which is more important form or function?

It is a combination of the two. Our unique design fits perfectly into both traditional and modern gardens so we have not deviated greatly in terms of form over the years as our style of room is highly desirable; internally we can offer anything our customers desire- showers, kitchens, wetrooms- you name it and we have probably done it. So as far as function goes, we have yet to find anything that our style of garden room cannot cope with.

What scope do you have for incorporating the customers design ideas into your garden rooms?

Our garden rooms are modular which means our customers have complete freedom to choose the position of both solid and glass panels- after all, they know their requirements far better than we do and things such as which way their garden faces and where they need light or shade are all determining factors to which we can respond directly whereas most other garden rooms have a fixed front, back and sides which clearly limits customer choice.

Many customers are concerned about planning permission, how can you help customers with this issue?

As previously mentioned, Planning Officers love our garden rooms as they tend to be in perfect keeping within any garden setting thanks to both the colouring and classic pitched roof styling; we have never yet had any issues with planning!
We have a wealth of knowledge in this area so any customers who are concerned about this can rest assured they will be in expert hands and if planning is required we will guide them through the process.

Not every site is level, what options do you have for building your garden rooms on uneven ground?

Each new client receives a complimentary site survey- unlike some suppliers- and we will endeavour to work with or around any such issues.

Some customers are concerned about the ongoing maintenance of a garden room, what annual maintenance do your garden rooms require?

Externally our Plastisol coated panels are guaranteed for 30 years. The wooden sills are finished in a microporous paint which also gives extended life over normal exterior paint so these will only need repainting every 10 years. Internally we would expect the room to last pretty much forever subject to sensible usage and changes in decor as trends dictate.

What aftercare do you offer your customers?

We are available at the end of the phone or by email 7 days a week. In the highly unlikely event of any problems, our Site Manager and team of professional fitters can be made available to sort out any issues within a short space of time.

Describe your company in three words!
